@ 2025
Wanted to create a small memorabilia for me and my friends before going on a trip to Italy.
Started with a font exercise to find a typeface that personified our friend group. I wanted it to have a fresh personality, but not be too characterized to fully embody the vibes of our eclectic friends.
In parallel, I played with different forms inspired by traditional Korean forms. By modernizing the traditional forms, it led to a timeless form.
One of the friends going on the trip, June Lee, made illustrations of each of us represented in fruit forms and name plates. I took her illustrations and laid them out on the chosen form and sent the file and acrylic board to be laser cut by Alex Hans.
To make sure I was happy with the laser etching placement, paint and acrylic board I chose, and overall form, I CAD’d and rendered them on Rhino and Keyshot.
After receiving the laser cut acrylic pieces, I ink filled the etchings and beaded them into keychains with respective beads matching their personalities.
